Sunday musings

I’d like to learn more about blogging so I bought Blogging for Dummies (8 books in 1) from the Barnes & Noble store in Apple Valley yesterday before my massage.  I also ordered Create Your Own Blog from Amazon yesterday and it is supposed to come Wednesday.  I plan to read as much as I can and make this blog better.

Church was great today.  I went to Community of Hope and Pastor Per, the senior pastor, preached on Mark 2:1-5, the story of the paralyzed man lowered down to Jesus on a mat because his friends couldn’t push through the crowds.  They had to poke a hole in the roof to get him down there.  Per challenged us to have friends like that and to be friends like that, to lead people to Jesus.  After church we had ice cream (sundaes on Sunday).  Next week we are celebrating Valor Sunday, honoring the military and first responders.

I started a new Bible study program yesterday.  I bought the One Year Study Bible from Barnes & Noble and began reading the Old Testament readings.  I tried to read all the readings from January 1 (which included the beginning of Genesis, Matthew, Psalms, and Proverbs) but that proved too much for me to understand so I put myself on the Three-Year reading plan (read the Old Testament readings in Year 1, the New Testament readings in Year 2, and Psalms and Proverbs in Year 3).  That makes more sense to me and I started that this morning with January 2.  I really want to comprehend what I’ve read.  I’ve read most of the Bible but not all of it.  Today’s reading was about Adam and Eve being tempted by the serpent (representing Satan) and being forced to leave the garden of Eden, the murder of Abel by Cain, and Cain getting married and having his own children after God sent him away.  I always wondered where Cain got his wife from.

  1. Hi Lisa,
First of all, I like your new blog design. I like the yellow streatcar. Great. It shows signs of hope and moving toward light.
Then, I like the way you are going about this. You are setting up a plan that fits you and that is the way it is supposed to be. Establish a relationship with you and the Trinity not one based on what someone else tell you.
I look forward to reading your blogs then on Monday morning. If you have noticed, I don’t make a daily blog posting in my blogs. I write a posting for each blog once a week becasue I want to write and also becaiuse I want my blogs to speak to people’s hearts. So keep up with your rhythmus and you will succeed.
    I’m praying for you.

  2. Good for you, Lisa. I think the 3-year plan is best for a full reading of the Bible but study of it never ends. It always seems to be saying something new with each reading. 🙂
